Tony and Virginia Ambler are founding farmers for Yorkshire Valley Farms, and son Wray recently joined the family operation. For over 8 years, they have raised chicken on their 350-acre farm near Peterborough, Ontario. In addition to organic chicken, the Amblers grow soybeans and wheat, and produce their own brand of organic maple sugar. While chicken is their main focus, they are also proud owners of an award-winning herd of registered purebred Black Angus cattle.
Dedicated to organic farming practices, the Amblers are making ongoing improvements and investments to their sustainable farm plan, particularly as it relates to composting animal nutrients and returning them to the land as a natural fertilizer.
