Meet the 2026 Yorkshire Valley Farms Eco-Scholar Award Recipients

Now in its sixth year, the Yorkshire Valley Farms Eco-Scholar Award provides $10,000 in annual funding to Canadian students passionate about organic regenerative agriculture and its ability to make a lasting impact on our world.

The 2026 recipients come from all across Canada, and have demonstrated their commitment and passion to organic agriculture. They are working on a variety projects, and doing studies on these important agriculture topics:

  • organic systems by closing nutrient loops, co-composting  to return carbon and nutrients to agricultural soils

  • soil health and improving on-farm microbiome management to promote beneficial, locally adapted soil microbial communities

  • sustainable pest management

  • bio-based fertilizers and soil microbes and how they influence crop growth

  • sustainable food systems and soil circularity

  • developing profit-comparison calculator to help farmers reduce financial uncertainty

  • developing a platform to accurately measure carbon and monetize it

  • magnetic field treatments and how they can improve tree growth and climate resilience

We believe in empowering future changemakers and are proud to help support the research of these students.
