The New Farm Centre is a charitable organization dedicated to developing, demonstrating and advocating for a regenerative farming system that mitigates climate change, fosters healthy ecosystems and communities, and improves farmer livelihoods.
One of their biggest initiatives is the Farms for Change Event. The objective of this annual event is to raise funds to provide local, organic produce to low-income communities and good food organizations throughout Southern Ontario. All proceeds from the event go to growing regenerative organic produce on the farm for free distribution to local Good Food Organizations. The event brings together food from 15 of the best chefs in Canada, over 1000 guests and 150 volunteers and live concerts in the barn which have included the likes of Broken Social Scene, Stars, the Sam Roberts Band, Gord Downie and the Sadies, Sloan, Joel Plaskett and The Tragically Hip.
At Yorkshire Valley Farms, we are also committed to supporting regenerative agriculture and have been a proud supporter of the New Farm for almost 10 years. We contribute to this fundraiser by donating food to the event, which is served to guests by Canada's top chefs.
