We're proud to announce that Yorkshire Valley Farms has been named a winner in the Sustainability category of the 2026 Canadian Grocer Impact Awards.
Now in its sixth year, the Canadian Grocer Impact Awards recognize organizations that are making a meaningful difference in their communities, workplaces and across the grocery industry. This year's Sustainability winners were recognized for helping create a more sustainable future for the Canadian grocery sector.
For Yorkshire Valley Farms, sustainability is about more than how food is grown today. It's about investing in the people and ideas that will shape the future of agriculture for generations to come.
One initiative highlighted through this recognition is our support of the Canadian Eco-Scholar Award, a program that provides funding to students exploring innovative solutions in organic regenerative agriculture. Since 2021, Yorkshire Valley Farms has funded and administered the program, providing a $10,000 annual funding pool and committing $100,000 in support by 2030.
Through the Eco-Scholar Award, students are advancing research and ideas focused on some of agriculture's biggest opportunities and challenges, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving pollinator health and strengthening local food systems. “The students we meet through the Eco-Scholar program are working on ideas that could fundamentally shift the future of organic agriculture and the food we eat,” said Krysten Cooper, Vice-President of Corporate Culture and Sustainability. “We want to be part of supporting those ideas and encouraging those students to continue to work and explore and challenge the status quo.”
We believe the future of sustainable agriculture will be driven by innovation, collaboration and a willingness to challenge the status quo. The students supported through this program inspire us with their creativity, passion and commitment to building a better food system.
We are honoured to be recognized alongside so many organizations working to create positive change across the Canadian grocery industry.
Thank you to Canadian Grocer for this recognition, and congratulations to all of the 2026 Impact Awards winners.
